Heating and Air Conditioning

The trained technicians at Leonard-Splaine are as good as the products we service. Each and every one of our technicians is qualified to service your equipment. Our technicians will keep your system in tip top shape because we are fully trained and certified by the industry's leading manufacturers.

Leonard Splaine is proud to offer HEIL Heating and Cooling Products. We have provided below some of the key factors to consider when purchasing a new heating and cooling system.

Warranty - Compare each manufacturer’s warranty on key components and parts. Initial savings on lower-cost products can evaporate if key components fail after they’re out of warranty. Strong warranty programs ensure you’re protected.

Extended Warranty - Check for an extended warranty option for additional peace of mind. Extended coverage plans are offered not only by some manufacturers but also by third-party companies that don’t specialize in heating and air conditioning products. Compare the coverage offered; some programs cover labor charges, others don’t. Also, make sure a reputable company backs the plan.

Energy Efficiency - By selecting products with the recommended efficiency ratings for your area, you can save on your utility bill. Compare the purchase price and operating costs of similarly rated products for an apples-to-apples comparison. Also, the Department of Energy (DOE) has established minimum efficiencies that require heating and cooling products to be significantly more energy-efficient than products manufactured prior to 1992.

Comfortable Operation - Make sure your new system will meet your comfort requirements! Things like quiet operation, even-air-flow and moisture control all affect your system’s overall performance and your comfort level. And not all systems are created equal! Check to be sure that your system operates to your required specifications

System Analysis & Design By A Professional - If your present system is more than 10 years old, your dealer may perform an analysis that evaluates duct sizing, runs, and registers in your home. In addition, if you’ve made changes to your home since your last system was installed, these may affect your heating and cooling needs. Make sure your dealer knows about these changes.

Because heating and cooling requirements vary by building, geographical area, and the specific needs of the occupants, products are available in a wide range of capacities, performance options, and features. That’s why a trained, professional contractor should help you choose the right system for your home or business.

Preventive Maintenance Plans - Ask what maintenance or service plans a dealer offers. Regular maintenance on heating and cooling equipment will ensure that it continues to perform efficiently for years.

Return On Investment/Financing Options - Many times you can offset the investment cost by savings on your monthly utility bills. By estimating efficiency savings, you can approximate how long it would take for the new unit to pay for itself. For example, if it costs $3,000 to install, but saves you $65 every month, it will pay for itself in less than four years.

Ask what financing options are available. Many dealers participate in manufacturer-sponsored finance programs that let you make convenient monthly payments. If you are also saving money on your utility bill every month, it can help offset the monthly payment for the system!

TRANE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING

We offer a full line of Trane Heating and Air Conditioning Products. There are a variety of system configurations to choose from for heating and cooling your home. The most common configuration is called a split system, because it requires both an outdoor unit and a unit inside your home. Typically, a split system is composed of an air conditioner, furnace and coil, or a heat pump and air handler. Or it may be a heat pump and furnace, or even an air conditioner and air handler.

The opposite of a split system is a packaged unit. Instead of an outdoor unit and an indoor unit, all system components are housed in a single cabinet.

Oversized air conditioning systems will not remove adequate moisture from the indoor air due to short cycling. Also, oversized systems quickly cool the indoor air temperature, but they do not run long enough to remove the humidity.

That leaves you feeling stuffy and uncomfortable. Control of your home's climate is rarely achieved with oversized systems and electricity consumption is higher than with a properly sized system.

An oversized furnace is similar to an oversized air conditioning system. The furnace run time is short, creating uncomfortable air stratification and less air filtration. Also, the frequent cycling of the unit on and off can cause undue wear and tear on internal working components.

An undersized air conditioning system will not adequately cool your home on the hottest days and an undersized furnace will not adequately heat your house on the coldest days.

Please call our office and discuss your requirements.

Honeywell Programmable Thermostats provide the ability to automatically adjust for unique lifestyles, controlling home comfort to the desired temperature at the desired time. They do the work for the homeowner automatically when they are away or asleep. And the big benefit is energy savings - up to 33% on home heating and cooling costs - by adjusting the temperature up or down, thereby reducing equipment run-time.

Honeywell combines the convenience of schedule selection with precise temperature control to deliver superior programmable thermostats.

Buderus boilers, water heaters and controls are designed and built to outlast conventional heating systems. Since 1825 Buderus has been developing new heating technologies. In fact, Buderus produced the world’s first low-temperature hydronic heating systems.

Today, Buderus products are acknowledged as the world standard in high-efficiency, low emissions hydronic heating. All Buderus products are designed to meet strict safety, efficiency and environmental regulations.

Buderus boilers are ideal replacements for virtually any make or model. They are quickly and easily installed and are compatible with most hot water tanks.

What is hydronic heating?

It is a method of heating that uses hot water or steam instead of air. With hydronic heat, you get two types of heat delivery: radiant heat and convected heat. Radiant heat warms you directly, just like the sun's rays. Convected heat is carried by warm air circulating in a room.

Hydronic heat lets you choose from several different devices that use these two heating processes. Hot water from a Burnham boiler can be piped to radiant tubing hidden in the floor, to slim baseboard radiators, or to stand-alone radiators. Hot water can also be circulated through a coil in your central air-conditioning unit to heat other living spaces with warm air. Plus, hydronic heating produces more hot water for cooking, washing, hot tubs, swimming pools, and even radiant sidewalks and driveways to melt ice and snow.

Radiant heat is a form of hydronic (hot water) heat that circulates warm water through special tubing and installs in or underneath floors. Radiant heat systems heat objects throughout the room, so you can feel the difference. It simply eliminates cold drafts and keeps the heat at the floor, warming you and the furniture, not the air.

To understand the feeling of radiant heat, imagine a cool day with bright sunshine. If you walk from the shade into the sunlight, you'll instantly feel the warm rays of the sun - that's radiant heat at work!
